When Quivira was established in 1928, it was mostly as a vacation spot away from the bustle of the big town of Kansas City.  By train or by car, residents arrived ready to enjoy the social scene, the golf, the lake.  Since then, while the cottages have become year-round homes, the public beach and golf course have become private, and the passenger train is no longer needed, the people themselves haven’t really changed – though their clothes certainly have.
